The Shoreham team are a long serving group of early years practitioners and professionals all qualified to level 3 and above (or working towards a qualification) with expert knowledge in child development. Each of our team brings unique skills and are passionate about giving children the best start in their early years and delivering high quality teaching through a wide range of exciting experiences.
We are very proud that Shoreham Day Nursery and Preschool has recently been rated OUTSTANDING by Ofsted in 2 areas, with an overall rating of good in their latest Ofsted inspection.
Children at The Shoreham Day Nursery & Pre-School thrive in the exciting indoor and outdoor environment. A balance of child initiated and adult led activities encourages the children to discover a wide range of subjects through play and exploration and prepares them to progress confidently onto the next stage of their learning. Many of our Shoreham family members start their journey in our baby room and continue all the way to our pre-school, leaving us as confident, independent, and curious learners.
The outdoor environment offers space and therefore is particularly important to those children who learn best through active movement. Very young children learn predominately through their sensory and physical experiences which supports brain development and the creation of neural networks. For many children, playing outdoors at their early years setting may be the only opportunity they have to play safely and freely while they learn to assess risk and develop the skills to manage new situations.
Our nursery is in a secure gated site. Entry to the nursery is only obtained from ringing the bell and being greeted by a staff member. The garden is fully enclosed and secure.
We provide tasty and nutritious home cooked food – delivered fresh and warm from our sister nursery at Lancing.
Where you will find us
The nursery is situated next door to the Kingston Buci Children and Family Centre and opposite the Cavell House Care Home meaning the nursery has strong links with the wider community, working closely with elderly to bridge the gap between the old and young and encouraging children to give back to their local community. There is a bus stop situated a 2 minute walk from the entrance and Shoreham-by-Sea train station is a 10 minute walk away. The Shoreham Day Nursery & Pre-School has a dedicated car park with plenty of space for parents to drop off and collect safely.
Our Building
The nursery is an open plan, bright space with 3 large rooms for each age range. Each age group has a dedicated changing and toilet area, messy play facilities and access to the garden. The open plan nature of the building means that children don’t feel overwhelmed moving into the next age group and allows for a very sociable environment. Each room is warm, homely and resourced to ensure children have plenty of choice. We ensure every space has calm areas for children to chat to their peers, read stories or simply have some quiet time.
The Baby Snug
A room where babies can relax, sleep, crawl, and explore new sights and sounds to awaken the senses. Our Baby Snug is the perfect place for our youngest children to begin their nursery journey.
The Toddler Den
Located next door to their younger Baby cousins, our toddler den has space for exploration, play and new experiences. Creative play, colourful and textured resources, singing, stories, outdoor play, and nursery rhymes are how we learn every day
The Pre-School Study
Preparing for school and those next big steps in education is a big deal, so in our study we focus on activities that promote reading, writing, maths and science – ensuring children are learning as they play. All activities are carefully planned to cover all areas of learning.
The management team really are incredible and there is no safer, happier place I would leave my children!
