At our Shoreham Day Nursery & Pre-school we provide a balance of child-initiated and adult-led activities that encourage children to discover a wide range of subjects through play and exploration.

Our experienced practitioners prepare children for each stage of their learning and development by building on their interests and individual capabilities, therefore allowing them to develop at their own pace.

We follow a free-flow approach, which means your child will have the freedom to move freely between our indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the day. This flexible system encourages children to make their own choices about how they spend their time, fostering independence and decision-making skills.

Whether they’re engaging in creative play, exploring sensory activities, or enjoying physical exercise in our wonderful garden, the free-flow environment supports a child’s natural curiosity and desire to learn.

Shoreham is an inclusive setting with an on-site Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator and a range of resources to support children who speak English as an Additional Language.

The Baby Snug (3 months – 2 years)

Our baby room is a warm, safe and nurturing environment that fosters early development. It has been thoughtfully designed with distinct areas of learning, with a specific focus on communication and language skills.

One of the key features of the room is a dedicated sensory area, where your child can explore a range of textures, sounds, and colours to engage their senses and stimulate cognitive development.

In our cosy book area staff can read stories aloud to your child, helping to foster a love of language and supporting early vocabulary development through repetition, rhythm, and interaction.

The Toddler Den (2 – 3 years)

Our toddler room is a spacious area that supports all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) with dedicated zones for communication, physical development, and emotional growth.

A key focus is promoting independence, so our practitioners will encourage your child to tackle small challenges like making playdough and practicing self-help skills, such as dressing themselves.

The Den also includes resources for potty training, with child-sized toilets and hygiene materials.

Overall, it provides a stimulating environment where your child can explore, learn new skills, and build confidence in their daily routines.

The Pre-school Study (3 – 5 years)

Our pre-school room is an engaging environment that supports all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), focusing on school readiness, independence, and confidence.

We will enhance your child’s academic skills through activities promoting literacy, numeracy, physical development, and creativity, and encourage your child to become responsible for serving their own meals and snacks.

We introduce routines and emphasise social-emotional development, including conflict resolution, to help your child manage their emotions and cooperate with peers.

This comprehensive approach ensures your child is well-prepared for their future educational journey.
