At Purbrook Day Nursery & Pre-school, our ethos is very child led, so we allow children to become fully immersed in their play because when they play, they learn.
Our team of experienced practitioners ensure that each child’s learning journey is unique by focusing on, and extending, familiar experiences and current interests and building learning opportunities around their capabilities to enable them to develop at their own pace.
Your child will be encouraged to be curious about the environment around them. We have a well-resourced and inviting outside space, where your child can explore a range of natural and holistic resources designed to engage their senses and spark their imagination.
We support children’s well-being and encourage their confidence and independence, so when they leave for school, they are robust and resilient.
Purbrook is an inclusive setting with an on-site Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator and a range of resources to support children who speak English as an Additional Language.
To me, dropping my children to them is like leaving them with a family member.
The Baby Snug (3 months – 2 years)
The furniture and resources in our baby room are strategically positioned to support your child as they move through the different stages of physical development – from floor play, to sitting, to crawling, to standing, to cruising and then to walking.
Our skilled practitioners will follow your child’s routine and support their engagement in a range of activities from sensory, messy, and role play to song bags, stories, Baby Boogie and lots more!
The room is air conditioned with bi fold UPVC doors that open wide in the summer and the children have access to a garden which is only for their use.
The Toddler Den (2 – 3 years)
Our toddler and pre-school children share the main listed building.
Your child will have independent access to playdough, mark making materials and paint in our art studio, and in our largest room, The Den, we offer activities and resources to support all areas of learning.
Our Block Room is also popular with its small world and construction resources that lend themselves to imaginative, open ended play using boxes, cardboard rolls and guttering.
Your child will also have free flow access to our large Cottage Garden, which is an outside classroom and play area, with music wall, bikes, climbing frame, sandpit and wooden planters.
The Pre-school Study (3 – 5 years)
Our pre-school study provides a school-like classroom that fosters all areas of learning through stimulating, open-ended play, with a special emphasis on literacy and maths.
Your child will also benefit from free access to a well-stocked art studio and The Den, our largest room filled with diverse learning materials including our ‘Book Nook’.
Our popular Block Room encourages your child’s imaginative play with construction and small world resources, and our Cottage Garden, which your child will have open access to, is an outdoor classroom and play area featuring a music wall, bikes, a climbing frame, a sandpit, and wooden planters.
