Security and safeguarding
All our nurseries and pre-schools have well-embedded security policies in place that all staff adhere to. Doors are secured at all times and any visitors are asked to confirm their identity before being allowed access to the building. Visitors are then accompanied at all times when inside the building.
As part of our induction process, all staff are given training on our safeguarding policy and procedures, which is regularly updated to ensure that it remains front of mind and current.
By law, all staff working in nurseries in the UK, including volunteers, require an Enhanced DBS* check, with a check of the Children’s Barred List. In addition to checking all staff and visitors, we ensure that all our employees are signed up to the update service, so that their certificates are automatically checked and updated every year.
*DBS stands for Disclosure and Barring Service, which is a government agency that helps employers make safer recruitment decisions by processing and issuing DBS checks and maintaining barred lists of individuals deemed unsafe to work with children and vulnerable adults due to any spent and unspent convictions, cautions, warnings or reprimands on their record.
